Go See the Nutcracker

Checking out a live performance of the Nutcracker is a great way to start off the holiday season. You can see this wonderful winter tale from Ballet Arizona at Symphony Hall in Phoenix. This show includes more than 150 performers in full costume with live music to accompany the story and the dancing. The show runs at Symphony Hall from December 8 to the 24, so you’ll have plenty of time to order your tickets and go see this classic story.

See the Holiday Parade

Holiday parades are great because it’s fun for the whole family when you get to see live performances, bright costumes, and vibrant characters being portrayed by your neighbors. The 2017 Queen Creek Holiday Festival & Parade kicks off on December 2, from noon until 7 PM. You can pick your spot on Old Ellsworth Road and enjoy the parade, which will feature local residents on floats spreading the holiday cheer. You’ll even see Santa Claus waiving at the crowds while heading to the Recreation Annex/Library. The parade starts at 3:30 PM., but the festival carries on before and after. There will even be a tree lighting ceremony at 6 PM.

Hop on the Polar Express

If you’re looking for passage to the North Pole, you may want to book a seat on the Polar Express. At Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, you’ll have a chance to take the magical train ride with several iconic Christmas characters, hot chocolate, and of course, Christmas cookies. You’ll be entertained with holiday songs, a reading from The Polar Express, and fun and games as you cross through the magic tunnel in order to arrive at your destination: the North Pole. There will be photo ops with Santa himself, so be sure to pack a camera on this voyage. Passage begins on the weekends in November, and every day in December except Tuesdays.
