2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Gilbert, AZ

If you’re looking for a sport utility vehicle that has the longest legacy in the class, with a name and performance that are unmistakable in terms of reliability and performance, there’s really only one way to go, and that’s Jeep. Ever since the Willys made its debut on the battlefields of World War II, these crossovers have been carrying people anywhere they want to go, whenever they need to get there.

The modern Jeep line has come a long way, but drivers in Gilbert, Mesa, and Tempe still love everything the Grand Cherokee has to offer. With a new model year arriving in showrooms across the area, it’s time to see what’s new. Let’s look at what you get with the new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee; its power, performance, technology, and features that will maintain the sharp legacy of this crossover.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

So, what’s new with the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee? This year you get a stunningly powerful supercharged V8 engine that puts out 707 horsepower in the Trackhawk trim level. There’s currently no diesel engine option, but there’s whispers of its return later this year. You now get a standard 7-inch touchscreen interface for the infotainment system, with an optional 8.4-inch upgrade.

Features and Offerings

This five-passenger midsize crossover is offered in seven different trim levels. The base level is the Laredo, with the Limited, Trailhawk®, the Overland, the Summit, SRT®, and the Trackhawk forming the other levels. Some are upgrades on prior levels while others sit to the side on their own.

Base features include heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, rearview camera, keyless entry and ignition, automatic dual-zone climate control, and an infotainment system with six speakers, dual USB ports, satellite radio, and a 7-inch touchscreen interface.

Stepping it up unlocks a whole range of additional extras, including auto-dim mirrors, power liftgate, remote start, heated power seats and steering wheel, driver memory settings, upgraded sound system with 8.4-inch touch screen, and 19 speakers by Harman Kardon®, and more.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Performance

Most Jeep Grand Cherokees will be powered by a 3.6L V6 engine that gives you 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, matched up with an 8-speed automatic. You can choose from rear-wheel or 4WD models. There are, however, a range of V8 engines available, including a 5.7L V8 generating 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.

Step it up to the Trackhawk and you get a supercharged 6.2L V8 with 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, with an upgraded transmission, suspension, and Brembo® brakes. It’s worth noting, however, that the Trackhawk is a performance model designed for road travel, not off-roading.

Let’s be fair, though: you’re interested in how it tackles off-road trails. The Trailhawk gives you the 5.7L V8 with Quadra-Lift suspension, Quadra-Drive II low-range gearing, hill ascent and descent control, electronic limited-slip differential, and skid plates under the body—Jeep still offers class-leading off-road performance.
