2018 Jeep Compass Review

If you’re looking for a great crossover SUV made by a company that’s got arguably the longest legacy of any company producing sport utility vehicles, Jeep is the way to go. The Jeep Compass is a great mid-level crossover that fills an important niche in the Jeep lineup, and here we are with a new model year once again.

But what does the new model year mean? What can drivers in Gilbert, Mesa, and Tempe expect from the new Compass? Check out the full features, options, changes and upgrades to expect by reading our 2018 Jeep Compass Review below. When you are finished, be sure to schedule a test drive at Earnhardt Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram to experience for yourself its many benefits.

2018 Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass carries over this year pretty much unchanged from last year. That’s not surprising, as the 2017 model year saw it get a complete redesign and overhaul, and it’s still one of the most capable midsize crossovers on the market. It offers superior comfort and has the latest version of the Jeep Uconnect® infotainment system available, as well as class-leading off-road capability as you’d expect from a Jeep.

Jeep Compass Interior

Given the slot that the Compass occupies in the lineup, it’s essential that there’s plenty of room for comfort and cargo, and Jeep delivers well in this area. There is tons of room for the driver and passengers, and it delivers a very smooth ride with minimal jarring or bumps, and a reasonably quiet and serene cabin.

When it comes to cargo, it’s got tons of room both with the seats up or down. Behind the back seats you get 27 ft3 of luggage space. Folding down the 60/40 split-fold seats nets you a full 60 ft3 to stow and haul your gear—a very impressive offering.

Jeep Compass Off-Roading

But what about the off-road features? Like every Jeep, the Compass comes in a Trailhawk off-road trim that gives you superior performance when you get off the pavement and into the dirt. It comes with All-Wheel Drive and is powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that has 180 horses, and puts up 175 lb-ft of torque, all driven by a nine-speed automatic transmission. It gives you specially-tuned, raised suspension, and a specially designed front fascia which maximizes your breakover angles and your approach.

The Jeep Selec-Terrain® system allows it to crawl over the roughest inclines and uneven surfaces, while special accents and design elements identify it as a Trailhawk. It’s also got armor plates on the underbody to protect the gas tank, oil pan and engine from damage. With this setup, you’ll be able to trail-run with the best of them.
