New 2016 Chrysler 200 at Earnhardt Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram for Gilbert, AZ
The 2015 Chrysler 200 is an all-new mid-size sedan that keeps the model name, but almost nothing else, from its predecessor. Six-figure pickup-truck volumes get all the headlines, but the car market's real heavy hauler is the mid-size sedan. This segment accounts for a greater percentage of new-car sales than any other, but it's not just its size that makes it so ferocious. It's overrun with great offerings that include two 10Besters-the Mazda 6 and Honda Accord-and three of the 10 bestselling vehicles in the United States.
Under the 200's Hood
In terms of performance, it's all in the family, with powertrains shared with some of FCA's other models, ranging from Jeep to Dodge. V-6 versions of the 200 have strong acceleration and are well-damped, although not the sharpest-handling. At the base level, there's a smooth 184-horsepower, 2.4-liter four, while the 295-hp V-6 is the counterpunch (and knock-out, really) to turbo-four offerings elsewhere. You'll find manual-shift modes and paddles to bring out the best of the V-6, but there is a bit of torque steer unless you opt for all-wheel drive. We've found that the nine-speed automatic can, at times, shift abruptly with the automatic transmission-especially with the four. The 2016 Chrysler 200 rides quite well, and its handling is predictable but unremarkable. It's neither as soft and comfort-oriented as the current Altima nor as sporty as the Fusion. The 200 is built on an extended version of the Dart compact-sedan platform, and it shares the Dart's strut front/four-link rear end and electric power steering.
Design of Chrysler 200
Displaying a coupe-like profile, the Chrysler sedan's sleek lines guide your eyes from the front to the rear of the 4-door. Up front, the new Chrysler badge seems to be floating within the grille and is book-ended by projector-beam headlights. Aiming for a "timeless, exciting" look, the corporate is exploitation this contemporary style as a example for the face of future Chrysler product. As there is a tendency to simply show off, the Chrysler 200's new interior is currently one amongst the nicest in the midsize sedan category because of associate complete design. Accessible power adjustable seats and leather trimmed seats set the pace for a comfortable cabin. Interior accents like real wood with an exposed edge stretching across the dashboard offer the new Chrysler a refined feel within. Beginning with an opportunity, the designers were ready to fully redo the inside. Chrysler needed to use furniture grade materials within the new sedan, which may be seen in options just like the real wood with associate exposed edge on the dashboard.
